Holy wow. Tim Schafer and the Double Fine team’s quest to revive the Adventure Game Genre via Kickstarter has garnered a ton of attention, and is already an overflowing success with (at thismoment) $719,178 UPDATE OVER $1,000,000 of the original $400,000 goal after only 24 hours. Simply incredible!
Kickstarter won’t let me post the video, but it’s so funny you’ll be giggling and handing over all your money to Double Fine within minutes. Go to the page and watch it!
I’m so excited for this! Dream come true for everyone!!!

No need to play The Secret of Monkey Island* when you can just watch the adorable stop-animated paper version of the game!

*Actually, you still need to play The Secret of Monkey Island.

Here it is, my drawing from memory of Melee Island from The Secret of Monkey Island, one of my favorite games of all time. My brain did a pretty decent job marking out the locations on this blue post-it (especially the elusive Sword Master’s spot), but I got the shape of the island all messed up and totally misplaced Stan’s Used Ship Emporium (for shame!). I remembered the island looking kind of like a pirate face (if you turn your head a little), so I drew the bay near the town with some kind-of sort-of profile features, but I was all wrong! The face is actually angled in the opposite direction. Pretty close, though.
Submitted my drawing to Mapstalgia, but since they’re all famous now who knows if it’ll show up! Figured I might as well post it here too.

Aled Lewis’ prints for the upcoming iam8bit art show mix the retro aesthetic of old LucasArts adventure games with classic works of art. Here we have Indy from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade probably wondering what the heck to do in Salvador Dali’s “The Persistence of Memory”. “This belongs in a museum.” ‘Nuff said.
My other favorite of course is the Monkey Island in Van Gogh mash-up. You can see the full set on Lewis’ tumblr or on his flickr.
